Executive Director Opportunity
Position Title: Executive Director Loudoun Youth Inc.
Location: Loudoun County, Virginia
Reports To: Board of Directors
Position Type: Full-Time
Organization Overview:
Loudoun Youth Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization in its 20th year of operation dedicated to empowering and supporting the youth of Loudoun County by providing leadership, development, and enrichment opportunities.
We seek to:
- Provide diverse programs that empower all youth in Loudoun County
- Support and develop programs that provide Loudoun teens with positive out-of-school activities in safe, nurturing environments.
- Help teens become more confident and contribute to members of our society.
We accomplish this through community partnerships with organizations and agencies including Loudoun County Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS), Loudoun Youth Advisory Council (YAC), and the Advisory Commission on Youth (ACOY).
Position Summary:
The Executive Director (ED) will serve as the chief executive officer for Loudoun Youth Inc., responsible for providing visionary leadership, managing operations, and ensuring the organization fulfills its mission and strategic goals. The ED will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to advance the organization’s mission, help secure funding, create, and maintain programs and initiatives that benefit the youth of Loudoun County. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader, skilled in nonprofit management, fundraising, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Vision:
- Provide visionary leadership to advance Loudoun Youth Inc. mission and strategic goals.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement long-term strategies, policies, and priorities.
- Function as the primary spokesperson for the organization, fostering relationships with community leaders, local government, schools, businesses, and other stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key community partners, government officials, donors, and other stakeholders.
Operations & Management:
- Oversee the development, execution, and evaluation of programs that empower and support Loudoun County youth.
- Strengthen existing partnerships and build new collaborations with local businesses, schools, and community organizations.
- Represent the organization at community events, forums, and meetings to advocate youth initiatives.
- Ensure effective systems for communication, resource management, and internal processes.
Financial Oversight & Fundraising:
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including grants, sponsorships, donations, and our events.
- Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations to ensure financial sustainability.
- Work with the Board of Directors and oversee the organization’s budget, financial planning, and reporting to ensure responsible fiscal management.
Operations & Governance
- Lead and manage a team of staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Prepare and present reports to the Board of Directors, supporting board development and engagement.
Desired Qualifications:
- A passion for empowering youth and a deep commitment to Loudoun Youth Inc.’s mission.
- A minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit management, ideally in youth development, education, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit financials, budgeting, and fundraising strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders, including donors, staff, volunteers, and the broader community.
- Proven history of strategic thinking, problem-solving, and managing multiple priorities in a challenging environment.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to foster teamwork and consensus-building.
- · Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work history required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, business, or a related field is a plus.
