BIPARTISAN EFFORT BENEFITS YOUTH OF LOUDOUN COUNTY

Over $200,000 in Federal and State Grants to Prevent Gang Involvement by Loudoun Teens Announced

November 13, 2007 - Leesburg, VA - Loudoun County will have another weapon in its arsenal to help teens fight the lure of gangs, truancy and drug use.  Loudoun Youth, Inc., in partnership with Boys and Girls Club of Loudoun and other community organizations, is offering developmentally appropriate programs to engage and educate teens who may be at risk of becoming involved in gang activities and associated behaviors.

Loudoun Youth, Inc. has received a $200,000 grant award from the U.S. Department of Justice through the efforts of Congressman Frank Wolf.  Delegate Poisson was successful in lobbying the Commonwealth of VA to bring an additional $12,500 to help reach the goals of the federal grant.

Loudoun Youth, Inc. President, Carol Kost will be joined by State Delegate David Poisson (32nd District), Dulles Supervisor Steve Snow, Loudoun Sheriff Steve Simpson and Loudoun Boys and Girls Club at a community briefing on Tuesday, November 13, 11:00 AM in the Lovettsville Room at the County Government Center, 1 Harrison Street, Leesburg.

The partners will outline plans for use of the grant and answer questions.  Members of the press are invited to attend.
